I thought the guy who asked about it being armored was joking because everything you drive is armored. THAT SHIT WAS ACTUALLY ARMORED?!?!
![]() 03/27/2015 at 13:55 |

Yeah, armoring cars is quite common here in Brazil. This is one of them, because safety.

Armored because Brasil
![]() 03/27/2015 at 13:55 |

Yes it was. Most luxury cars here are.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 13:56 |

Around 90 kilos I think.

![]() 03/27/2015 at 14:17 |

No, everything, body, doors, glass, hood. Every surface was made bulletproof.

Cars over here are commonly armored here, especially in São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.
There's a car store near my University that only sells armored cars, and they sell from Range Rovers to armored Corollas and even Audi A1s or Minis.

Were the doors armored as well??? They must be a pain to use!

Is this color a wrap or the expensive option?
![]() 03/27/2015 at 14:22 |
|
Expensive option.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 14:22 |
|
Wow, "proof" or bullet resistant? Also, how did that affect performance?
![]() 03/27/2015 at 14:23 |
|
SO MUCH WANT.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 14:24 |
|
Every surface is. They work just as they should, armoring isn't all that heavy anymore.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 14:24 |
|
....why?
![]() 03/27/2015 at 14:25 |
|
It will absorb/deflect the bullets and protect the occupants. Not much, the whole armoring shebang weights a bit over 90 kilos.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 14:27 |
|
Because if you drive something expensive where most of the population is opressed and poor, they will want to have what you have, and they will try and take it from you, they have guns.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 14:39 |

Nice!
Awesome to see someone actually went for the option and didn't pick the wrap.

![]() 03/27/2015 at 22:43 |

![]() 03/27/2015 at 22:50 |

Come to any latin american country.
There's why.

I have been in several armored cars and realized they are tinted on the edges, which limits visibility. More visibility is lost when the armoring is heavier caliber.
Was the SLS's visibility hampered by the armoring.
![]() 03/27/2015 at 23:07 |

I have never been in another SLS to compare it to, but visibility was fine. My parents all have armored cars and I have never had problems with them. The B5 Passat Protect was something else, there was so much warping it felt like driving a submarine.

Exactly! I got exactly the same effect in a 2010 Grand Cherokee.
